William Thomas Wells (August 31, 1889 – June 12, 1967) was a heavyweight boxer. Fighting under the name Bombardier Billy Wells, he was British and British Empire Champion from 1911 until 1919. He was also famous for being the second person to fill the role of the "gongman" - the figure seen striking the gong in the introduction to J. Arthur Rank films. This rare presentation pays tribute to this legend of the ring – It displays a photo of Wells which is personally signed across the image. It has recently been reframed and presented in a tasteful black surround with a plaque, measuring in at 30cm by 27cm.A rare and unique item from a famous fighter, Bombardier Billy Wells.
